The woman is conceived as a ‘soldier’, who earthy yet macho with her gun and helmet accompanied by a cocky pet dog smoking a cigarette. The surface of the work is covered in painted rivets and stitches to add to the rugged look of the painting. Under this veneer of ruggedness, the woman is a vulnerable character surrounded by the bestial forces of society.
